- Wireless Technologies/Networks
iORMYX has chosen several projects at various clients to demonstrate its wide range of capabilities in the Wireless Technologies/Networks area. The clients are Navel Research Laboratories, eTrav, Radiator.com, and eBusiness Anywhere (EBA).
Naval Research Laboratories (NRL): iORMYX participated in the development of a secure network design and functional prototype. iORMYX was responsible for verifying the conceptual design through test prototypes. IORMYX developed the Corba implementation for client interoperability and performed the native C++ coding of the system elements.
Radiator.Com: Radiator.com is one of the largest distributors of heating and cooling systems in the country. Their client base consists of 30,000+ body shops all across the nation. Their legacy system was a call-center that assists the body shops to find the right product and then processes the order and ships it to them. This process introduced a lot of errors, lost time and money.
iORMYX designed and developed a wireless mobile solution comprising of the following key elements:
- Palm VII or Palm OS 3.5 compatible device with wireless access
- Device-resident Web clipping application
- Database solution with inventory management
- Server-side device management system and console
- Server-side transaction management system and console
- Server-side user management system and console
- Interface to Radiator.com legacy system
- Remote Faxing from Palm VII
- Palm.Net Gateway
- Bell South Mobitex Network
- Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0
- Microsoft SQL Server 6.5
- Microsoft Internet Information Server 4.0
This solution reduced the error rate to less than 1 percent and drastically reduced the operational call-center load.
Educational Travel Alliance (eTrav) Inc.
ETrav provides affordable travel to educational institutions and students through its Education Travel Alliance in the Americas and Europe. Each travel team is lead by a group leader who guides and manages the students throughout the tour. The group leader communicates with the students over voice networks and electronic mail from the initial eTrav contact.
iORMYX deployed the Siebel Customer Relationship Management system for eTtrav to manage the relationship lifecycle with the students. This system was extended to the wireless platform to provide instant access to the Siebel system and eTrav’s eCommerce system allowing users to access and make real-time modifications to their: Journeys, Activities, Contacts, Accounts, Flights, Hotels, Group Members, and Itineraries.
iORMYX implemented eTrav’s back-office accounting system and provides an end-to-end operation. If a prospective or current client calls with a question or interacts on eTrav’s web page, the eCommerce process will coordinate the response. Triggers have been set so the high dollar or other urgent opportunities are immediately linked to the appropriate level of sales and management.
The solution enabled the management and group leaders to be in touch with their traveling team before, during and after the travel from anywhere. Important information like flight information, travel itinerary and team information was available instantaneously in a small footprint wireless device.
